What are pneumatic conveyors?

In the field of industry, there is a growing need to convey granular or powder materials in liquid suspension across multiple stages in the production process. For over 10 years, CableConveyors has been pioneering pneumatic transport solutions for various industrial environments.

The product features pneumatic conveyors that utilize a high-speed stream of air to transfer solid, powdered, or granular substances into circular pipes. Differentiating between types of pneumatic conveyors, the motion of the material is achieved either through an air current in negative pressure (aspiration) or positive pressure (thrust).

This pneumatic conveying system serves to move materials between different points or towards a final destination, as well as supporting various production processes such as mixing, granulation, concentration, processing, and packaging.

How does pneumatic conveyor work?

The pneumatic conveyor is a commonly used system in various industries for transporting materials through a network of enclosed pipelines.

The process of material transfer involves a variation in pressure and the movement of gas or air through pipes. Depending on the requirements, an alternate gas, such as nitrogen, may be utilized. This inert gas is well-suited for transporting materials that are potentially explosive or prone to oxidation.

Pneumatic Conveying Systems

The transportation of bulk materials occurs through pneumatic conveying systems, where an air stream is utilized to move the materials. This is achieved either by a positive pressure blower before the intake points, or a vacuum pump that eliminates air from the system after the discharge points. At the end destination, the materials are separated from the air and can be batch discharged through butterfly or slide gate valves, or continuously discharged through rotary airlock valves.

WEIGH BATCHING SYSTEMS

Systems equipped with programmable Weigh Batching Controls, along with Filter Receivers (shown) or Cyclone Separators on Load Cells, are capable of accurately weighing and batching materials for efficient feeding to Bulk Bag Fillers (shown), Drum Fillers, Box Fillers, Process Equipment, and Storage Vessels.

Advantages of Pneumatic Conveyor

Flexible screw conveyors provide versatile solutions, easily adapting to a variety of configurations. Read on for some common examples of these innovative conveying systems.

Wide capacity range

The Pneumatic Conveyor has a wide range of capacities, from a few pounds to several tons per hour. It can efficiently transport materials to any destination, including small packaging lines, silos, and railcars. Additionally, the system is designed to handle fluctuations in the feed rate without causing damage, ensuring smooth operation.

Easy conveyor line routing

Pneumatic conveyor systems are easily integrated into production environments thanks to their ability to be routed vertically, horizontally, and even through small holes in walls or ceilings. This makes them ideal for settings with existing process equipment and obstacles, as they take up minimal floor space.

Diversity of products handled by one conveyor

Our pneumatic conveyor is capable of handling powders with varying bulk densities, as well as flakes, pellets, capsules, tablets, and other friable materials, offering utmost flexibility to transport numerous ingredients all at once.

Designed, constructed and finished to industrial and sanitary standards

Choose from carbon steel with industrial finishes or stainless steel with finishes that meet industrial, food, dairy, and pharmaceutical standards for our high-quality conveying systems. Optional upgrades include quick-access and quick-disconnect components.

Total evacuation

A pneumatic conveyor system is highly effective in eliminating any residual material in both the vessel and the conveyor line, preventing contamination in multi-ingredient systems. It also guarantees precise delivery of both single and combined ingredients based on weight, promoting quality control and minimizing waste.

High reliability and ease of maintenance

The pneumatic conveyor systems have filter receivers that are convenient to maintain and come with access doors and inspection ports. Additionally, they also include rotary airlock valves with optional rotor support bars for easy cleaning and inspection.
